Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra

Suitable for All Levels and Beginners

A potent form of guided meditation, anchored with intention, for the purpose of deep relaxation, healing, restoration and remembrance.

Yoga nidra practices are usually 20 mins to 1 hour long.

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra is a profound meditation and relaxation technique that leads practitioners into a state of conscious relaxation, often referred to as "yogic sleep." It systematically guides individuals through layers of consciousness, moving beyond ordinary waking awareness to a deep state of relaxation, where the mind remains alert and receptive. This journey often involves exploring the Pancha Koshas or the five sheaths that encapsulate human existence: Annamaya (physical), Pranamaya (energetic), Manomaya (mental/emotional), Vijnanamaya (wisdom), and Anandamaya (bliss). The end goal being to come back to a state of self-realisation and feeling whole.

In the world of yoga nidra, there are 2 key lineages practitioners often refer to: The Himalayan Institute style of Yoga Nidra and the Bihar School of Yoga Nidra. The first is known to be a more expansive, open-ended, suggestive practice (more akin to typical meditation tracks you might listen to these days). In contrast, the Bihar style is a more direct, prescriptive, methodical approach rooted in traditional yogic practices.

While I often draw inspiration from both, the most crucial element for me is the facilitation of Intention setting, also known as Sankalpa. This practice involves setting a positive and personal resolve, aligning with one's deepest aspirations. This intention acts as a guide, influencing the subconscious mind, planting the seed for personal growth, healing, self-awareness and remembrace.
